Last Wednesday St John's celebrated their annual Carols Under The COLA! It was a joyful community event that kicked off with a BBQ organised by the P&F committee. Kindergarten were sparkling, twinkling stars during our whole school performance of the Nativity Story, and they did an amazing job! We then sang Rudolph as our fun Christmas carol and very much looked the part with our reindeer ears and nose on! The night wouldn't be complete without a visit from Santa! Everyone cheered with excitement as he appeared with treats for all the kiddies!

Toy Designing & Making
A few weeks ago, Santa wrote to Kindergarten asking for their help in designing new toys for Christmas next year. Kindergarten was very eager to help Santa and so we got thinking, brainstorming and designing straight away! We then made prototypes of our designs using recyclable materials, with the help of some of our lovely parents and grandparents!
Have a look at what Kinder Gold designed and made during our Toy Extravaganza!
Buddies!
This year, we spent lots of time with our Year 5 Buddies and have really made some good friendships. We enjoy doing lots of activities together and look forward to our weekly 'Buddy Lunch' on Friday afternoons! Enjoy browsing the slideshow of pictures below with our buddies...

Water Fun Day!
Today, Primary had their annual Swimming Carnival. Now Infants were not going to miss out on any fun, so we decided to have our very own Water Fun Day at school! Throughout the day, Kindergarten participated in a variety of activities, with a 'water' theme. Some of these included watching a fun Water Safety video clip and creating a poster, Water painting, and Water games outside! Have a look at our slideshow of photos below of the fun we had!
Here is the water safety video we watched on the day. How many water safety rules can you remember Timone and Pumba taught us?

A Special Visit...
Today, Kindergarten was visited by Mr Matheson, the Federal Member for Macarthur. Mr Matheson spoke to Kindergarten about how important it is to read, and even read us a story. Before he left, he gave each Kindergarten student a special gift...a brand new, beautiful picture book!

Our Excursion!
Last Friday, Kindergarten went on their excursion to Calmsley Hill City Farm!
We met Custard the Cow and we all had a go at milking her. Wow, what a funny experience that was!
We saw so many different animals and learned all the right names for the male, female and baby. We got to pat a baby chick, a newborn bunny rabbit, sheep and goats in the farm nursery and we even got to pat Coco the Camel too!
Here's some pics of Coco :)
We then got to have a ride on the farm's tractor...it was a very exciting and bumpy ride!
To finish off the day we saw three different shows. The first show was the whip show. In this show, the farmers were showing off the cool tricks they could do with their whip! We also learned that they use the whip to manage their herd of cows. The video below shows the farmer performing "The Hospital" with his whip. It's called this as this trick can be very dangerous and that when performed wrong, it can indeed send the person to hospital!
Benjamin and Eden were brave enough to have a go at cracking the whip!

Then we watched Marley and Dot (the farms working dogs) round up sheep in the Working Dogs Show. They were very clever dogs!
The last show we watched before we went home was a sheep having its hair cut. We also got to take a little piece of its wool with us as our souvenir!
It was such a fantastic day full of learning and FUN!!!

A Healthy Lunch
In Science & Tech, Kindergarten has been learning all about food...glorious good!
We have been learning all about healthy food and why it is so important for us to eat healthily. When we eat healthily we give our bodies all the energy, minerals and vitamins we need to grow.
Today, Kinder Gold enjoyed 'weighing up' their lunch boxes on an interactive website to see how healthy their food choices were. Have a go at home - can you pack a champion's lunch? Click on the red link below to start packing your healthy lunch box!

I wonder if we can fill the basket again this week with rice and pasta items?
Well done K Gold, let's keep up the tremendous effort!

SOUNDS, SOUNDS, SOUNDS!
Hi Kinder Gold,
We are doing such a good job learning all of our letters and the sounds that each of these letters make. Remember, that it is very important that we remember the SOUNDS that the letters make, as well as their names, as this will help us become better readers and writers. I have found a song that you can practise singing along to, to help you learn the sounds that the letters make.

Happy Holidays!
Dear Kinder Gold,
You have made it through your very first term of BIG school! Well done, I am so super proud of all of you! Now it's time for a big rest...it's holiday time! Enjoy the 2 weeks off school but make sure you keep up the fantastic job each night of practising your reading and sight words! Rest, play, have fun and keep safe. I can't wait to hear all of your holiday adventures when you return for Term 2. Don't forget, as you eat all of your yummy Easter eggs, to think about the reason WHY we celebrate Easter - to celebrate that JESUS is alive! Enjoy this very special time with your families.

Although the weather did its best to try and ruin the day, a great and exciting day was had by all!
