Advent

We have entered into a new season in the Church... ADVENT.
Advent is a very special time when we prepare and wait for the coming of our Saviour, Jesus, at Christmas time.
Today, Kinder Gold worked together to get our Christmas tree up and ready, and we also changed our prayer space to reflect the new season. The colour of Advent is purple.

Here is a slideshow of Kinder Gold working together decorating our class Christmas tree...

We Love God's Creation!

We put together a short video of our responses to a few questions about God's creation...

The Story Of Creation

For the first half of this term, Kindergarten will be exploring the beauty and wonder of God's Creation.

Here is a good little video of the Creation Story...

Our Visit To The Church

Near our school, there is a very special building called the Church. The Church is God's house and we go to Church to pray and talk with God. Our Church is St John The Evangelist Catholic Church.

Inside the Church are special things. Do you remember what each special thing is for?

Easter!

Here is a picture of our Easter Prayer Space.
The colour for Easter is gold/white.
We have placed special symbols on our prayer space that reminds us that Easter is a special time when we celebrate Jesus' resurrection and New Life. These symbols are Easter eggs, baby chicks, a butterfly and a picture of Jesus' empty tomb with the words 'He is Risen!'

We also read a story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. This story reminds us of New Life.
Below is a video of the story. I wonder what your favourite part is?

March 25 - The Annunciation

The feast of the Annunciation is celebrated each year on March 25. On this special day we remember MARY, the mother of Jesus, who loved God with all her heart.
The angel Gabriel visited Mary with a message from God. He told her that she would have a baby and name him Jesus. Mary trusted God and said "Yes"!

Here is a short video of the Annunciation:

Year 4 visited us on this special feast day and acted out the story of the Annunciation

We sang a song to celebrate this day too!
Like Mary, we try our best to say "Yes" to God and do what He asks of us.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is a very special day in the church year as it marks the beginning of a new church season - LENT. Lent is a time when we wait and prepare for Easter and its season colour is purple. During this holy time, we make a Lenten Promise to God and we try our best everyday to do something kind for others and to talk to God.
All of Kindergarten gathered together for a special Ash Wednesday Liturgy.

Jesus is The Light of the World

As part of our first unit of work in Religion, we read a very special story about how Jesus is the light of the world. Just like Him, we too can do special things for others that make our little light shine. We thought of one way we could let our light shine and painted it.
Enjoy watching K Gold's video of how we can let our light shine, just like Jesus!

Our Prayer Place

A prayer place is a very special place where we can go and talk to God.
It has special things on it:

  • A coloured cloth - to let us know what time of the Church year it is
  • A cross
  • A Bible
  • A candle
Our class prayer space also has a prayer pot, where we place all our special prayers in, and a picture of our school logo.

Watch us pray our school prayer and make the Sign of The Cross as we gather at our prayer space:
