WONDERFUL WRITING!
We watched a video that helped us learn facts about owls. We then created our own posters on Owl Facts. Have a look at some of the fantastic posters Kinder Gold made all by themselves!
Here is the Video of Owl Facts, just incase you'd like to watch it again :)
Congratulations on the fine effort you are making each week in reading all of your Sight Words! It is really important that we know these words well as these are the words we see regularly in our reading and writing. Over the last Term in Kindergarten, I would like everyone to work really hard in learning how to read and write ALL of the Kindergarten Sight Words so that we are all ready for Year One!
I have found these games you may like to try to help you learn your Sight Words quickly!

Reading Voices
Kinder Gold have been learning all about what a good reading voice sounds like.
Someone who reads with a good reading voice reads:
* Fluently and phrased, not stilted (like a robot)
* With excitement and expression
* For meaning - he/she stops and corrects any mistakes along the way. If it doesn't doesn't sound or look right, they go back and re-read it
Let's have a listen to what good reading voices sound like:
Here Emma is reading at a good pace. She is fluent and is quite expressive in her reading. You will notice that Emma's intonation changes as she reads the bold words 'whir, whir, whir' - this is a good example of what expressive reading sounds like. She also does a good job fixing up her mistakes when her reading didn't make sense.
Nicholas is pointing to his words as he reads but is still reading at a good pace. When he gets stuck, he uses his 'Lips the Fish' strategy and looks at the first sound in the word to help him work out what the words says. You will also notice Nicholas look at the picture first before reading the words. This is another good strategy to use as pictures often give us clues as to what the words say.
Phoebe does a great job reading her book in a fluent and phrased way. You can also notice that she reads with expression as she changes the tone of her voice when she reads bolded words in the story.
Here Elijah reads with great expression and makes his voice sound exciting during the dialogue in the story. He also stops when his reading doesn't make sense and fixes up his mistakes. This shows that Elijah is closely monitoring his own reading and knows when it doesn't sound right.
Fantastic Writing in KG
Kinder Gold enjoy reading their books to their peers.
Here are photos of some of us doing some Paired and Team Reading!
Paired Reading

Sing along to the song below to learn the SOUNDS that the letters make!
Literacy Centres
Each morning, Kinder Gold are busy as bees working on their Literacy Centre activities.
Literacy centres are small areas within the classroom where students work alone or together to explore literacy activities independently. During this time, the teacher provides small group guided reading instruction.
Have a look at some of the activities that Kinder Gold love to do in their Literacy Centres!
We Love Writing!
Kinder Gold has been working really hard on using finger spaces in our sentences.
Have a look at these fantastic 'I like...' sentences!

Nursery Rhymes
Each week, we study a nursery rhyme during Shared Reading Time. As we look at each nursery rhyme we use our detective skills to:
- Spot any Sight Words we see
- Listen for any rhyming words (words that sound the same)
Can you be a detective at home and as you watch the video of a nursery rhyme practise spotting Sight Words and listening out for rhyming words!

K Gold are very busy bees working on various activities in our Literacy Centres during our Guided Reading sessions...
We are very proud of our very FIRST SENTENCE that we wrote all by ourselves in Kindergarten! We like school!
