Today, Kindergarten was visited by Mr Matheson, the Federal Member for Macarthur. Mr Matheson spoke to Kindergarten about how important it is to read, and even read us a story. Before he left, he gave each Kindergarten student a special gift...a brand new, beautiful picture book!
Last Friday, Kindergarten went on their excursion to Calmsley Hill City Farm!
We met Custard the Cow and we all had a go at milking her. Wow, what a funny experience that was!
We saw so many different animals and learned all the right names for the male, female and baby. We got to pat a baby chick, a newborn bunny rabbit, sheep and goats in the farm nursery and we even got to pat Coco the Camel too!
Here's some pics of Coco :)
We then got to have a ride on the farm's tractor...it was a very exciting and bumpy ride!
To finish off the day we saw three different shows. The first show was the whip show. In this show, the farmers were showing off the cool tricks they could do with their whip! We also learned that they use the whip to manage their herd of cows. The video below shows the farmer performing "The Hospital" with his whip. It's called this as this trick can be very dangerous and that when performed wrong, it can indeed send the person to hospital!
Benjamin and Eden were brave enough to have a go at cracking the whip!
Then we watched Marley and Dot (the farms working dogs) round up sheep in the Working Dogs Show. They were very clever dogs!
The last show we watched before we went home was a sheep having its hair cut. We also got to take a little piece of its wool with us as our souvenir!
It was such a fantastic day full of learning and FUN!!!
